The function of the automobile seal is to close the gap of the oil (water) liquid in the chamber, and prevent dirt such as dust and sand from intruding into the chamber. If it is used or improperly installed, it will not function properly, affecting the normal operation of the machine and even causing damage, so the various seals must be installed correctly. The following describes the installation of automotive seals.

Felt seal

       Automotive felt oil seals have a good sealing effect, mainly used in some parts of the front, rear and rear axles of gasoline engines. Pay attention to the following matters during use:

       1. According to the sealing part, select the felt pad with the specifications and thickness to meet the requirements, so as to ensure the proper installation tightness of the sealing device. Because if the installation is too tight, the felt elasticity will be reduced and the sealing performance will be degraded; moreover, the frictional resistance will increase due to excessive pressure, and the felt will be damaged early due to overheating. If the installation is too loose, the permeability of the felt does not change, and oil leakage will occur. Therefore, the felt seal must be properly preloaded during installation. Usually the natural thickness of the felt should be 1/4-1/3 larger than the size when it is fixed in the seal.

       2, the felt oil seal must be saturated with lubricating oil before installation. The annular felt installed on the rotating part, if not immersed in the oil, the high temperature of the felt due to friction with the shaft during the initial rotation of the shaft causes the elastic force of the contact surface to fail and the sealing performance is lost. The strip felt installed in the flat groove, if not immersed in the lubricating oil, will absorb a large amount of lubricating oil after being installed, so that its volume shrinks, resulting in a tight seal. At the same time, the lubricating oil in the box is reduced, which affects the quality of lubrication.

       3. During the use process, the sealing condition of the felt oil seal should be checked frequently. Once the felt oil seal is found to be leaking or damaged, it should be replaced in time. For whatever reason, when removing the felt seal, check the elasticity of the felt seal and replace if necessary.

Skeleton self-tightening rubber seal

       1. Before installing the oil seal, check whether the surface of the journal is too rough and there are no scratches, especially if there is a long scar along the axial direction. Otherwise, it may damage the oil seal or accelerate the wear of the lip and damage its sealing performance. If the surface of the journal is improperly disassembled

More serious scars will make the oil seal lip and the surface of the journal not fit tightly, causing oil leakage. The new shaft can be welded or replaced with a damaged part. If there are only minor problems such as metal burrs or flashing of the shaft head, it can be smoothed with a trowel.

       2. When installing the skeleton oil seal, special installation tools must be used. If there is no tool, first roll a transparent hard plastic film (commonly called "cellophane") on the journal or even the shaft head, apply a little oil on the surface, and insert the oil seal into the shaft wrapped with plastic film. Head, evenly press the oil seal slowly to the journal, and then pull out the plastic film. Note: Do not install the wrong direction of the lip. It should be oriented towards the inside of the reservoir. If the oil is packaged, it will cause oil leakage and the sealing effect will be weakened or invalid. It is necessary to avoid the oil package or use a hammer and other tools to slam the surface of the oil seal, otherwise it will easily damage the oil seal.

       3. During the installation process, keep the oil seal and the shaft neck clean, and be careful not to let the oil seal self-tightening spring jump out of the spring groove. If the self-tightening spring is slack, it can be cut off as appropriate, and the ends of the two ends can be firmly connected to continue to use.

       4. Check the oil seal lip for breakage, cracking or oil corrosion, otherwise replace the new oil seal.

Leather seal

       1. The cowhide used to make the oil seal must have the same thickness. The cowhide of the same oil seal can not be thick and uneven, otherwise the thickness difference between the oil and the oil is too large, which affects the installation and sealing.

       2, strictly select the size of the cowhide oil seal. Generally, it can be slightly larger than the diameter of the sealing part, and should not be too large; if it is too large, it will not only be difficult to install, but also easily deform and affect the sealing performance.

       3. Before installation, it must be placed flat in a warm lubricating oil and softened before installation.

Rubber water ring

Some oil cylinders of the engine cylinder sleeve are -O-shaped rubber parts. Compared with the skeleton oil seal, the structure is simple, and the rubber is sealed by the flexibility of the rubber itself. If improperly installed, a large amount of coolant in the water jacket will seep into the crankcase, causing the lubricant to deteriorate and the lubrication quality to deteriorate. When installing the water blocking ring, pay attention to the following items.

       1. If the water blocking ring is too thin or the cylinder sleeve water sealing groove is too deep, the water blocking ring will not be able to rise above the curved surface at a certain height after being installed in the cylinder sleeve water sealing groove. At this point, a layer of asbestos rope can be wrapped around the bottom of the water seal groove, coated with water-resistant calcium-based grease, and then the water-blocking ring is placed in the water-sealing groove, and then the cylinder sleeve is pressed into the body seat hole.

       2. If the water blocking ring is too thick, or the cylinder sleeve water sealing groove is too shallow, the water blocking ring will be loaded and the arc surface will be too much. In this way, not only will the cylinder liner be difficult to install, but also the rubber water seal or even the squeezed cylinder liner. The rubber water seal can be polished with an abrasive cloth until it is inserted into the water seal groove and the height is convex, and then the surface of the rubber ring is coated. Grease can be used.

       3. When the rubber ring is attached to the cylinder liner and the height is uneven, it should be carefully checked to see if the bottom is a rubber ring or the problem of the water seal groove. Replace the defective machine.

       4. Before entering the water seal groove of the cylinder liner, the rubber ring and the water seal groove should be cleaned to avoid impurities and dirt. After the rubber ring is installed on the cylinder liner, it is necessary to carefully check whether it is twisted or not. Before installing the cylinder liner, carefully remove the dirt on the upper and lower bearing surfaces of the cylinder block, and apply a layer of lubricating oil on the lower bearing surface, and then slowly press the cylinder sleeve into the bearing hole.
